ever pondered what a disco take on the shakespearean classic “a midsummer night’s dream” would sound and look like? well, now you don’t have to wonder. check out the american repertory theater’s “the donkey show”. audience members are encouraged to sing along, party, and dance during the performance…what could be more fun?? keep in mind: this is an 18+ event.
from the A.R.T.’s site:
“The Donkey Show tells the story of A Midsummer Night’s Dream through the great 70s anthems, including “We are Family,” “I Love the Nightlife,” “Car Wash,” “Ring My Bell,” and “Last Dance.” The enchanted forest of Shakespeare’s classic comedy becomes the glittered world of retro disco as the lovers escape from their real lives to experience a night of dream, abandon, and fantasy.
A.R.T.’s OBERON houses this magical romp. Join the party under the disco ball. After the show, the party continues into the night so you can live out your own fantasy of disco fever!”

The B52s have just chosen Boston’s The New Collisions to join them on their east coast tour this summer. The tour will go from outside Boston to Cape Cod and the Wolf Trap National Park in Virginia, one of the largest venues in the state.
Unusually, the band had no part in setting up the opportunity. They were unaware that they were even being considered.
“I was sitting on my couch and got a phone call from an unknown number,” says guitarist/songwriter Scott Guild. “I answered, and it was the William Morris Agency with an offer to tour with the B52s. I was expecting a telemarketer.”
“The B52s are one of our favorite bands from our favorite era of music,” says frontwoman Sarah Guild. “The fact that they found us is awesome.”
The New Collisions will be direct support for The B52s at The Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis, MA, on Saturday, August 1; The South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset, MA, on Sunday, August 2; and Wolf Trap National Park (The Filene Center) in Vienna, VA, on Saturday, August 8.
“We work hard as a band, so this is a great surprise,” says Sarah. “It makes us really believe in what we’re doing.”

It’s really going off the air. But Boston Emissions is moving to WZLX, so don’t fret, Boston music fans.
Get all the info on the Boston Herald site.
Ken Casey of the Dropkick Murphys had this to say about the switch: “I guess that shows you where the music world is going. Well at least I like sports! And now WEEI [Boston sports station] will have some competition and I dont like them . I think I’m gonna apply for a job on the new station’s afternoon show and be Big O’s [host on WEEI] rival…honestly, I think all the radio stations will be out of business in the next few years…I think we’ll all be out of business !!!!”
